# Use iZap in ChatGPT and Claude

> Connect your account to ChatGPT or Claude to look up conversations, summarize customer service, and send messages by chatting with the AI.

## Two ways to use AI with your WhatsApp

iZap has two different AI features. It's worth understanding the difference:

* **The AI assistant** answers your customers on WhatsApp, automatically,
  around the clock. You train it in the
  [Trainer](https://trainer.izap.ai/trainer).
* **The ChatGPT or Claude connection** is for **you**: you chat with ChatGPT or
  Claude and ask for things about your business — "how many messages did I get
  today?", "summarize this week's complaints", "send the confirmation template
  to this customer". In this mode, ChatGPT does **not** answer customers on its
  own.

Both work together: the assistant handles customers, and you follow up and act
through ChatGPT or Claude.

## How to connect

In the [dashboard](https://dash.izap.ai) side menu, open **Connect AI** and
choose **ChatGPT** or **Claude**. The guide walks you through it; it takes a few
minutes and needs no programming. At the end, you authorize access by signing
in with your iZap account.

  Sign in with the **same account** you use in the dashboard. If you sign in
  with Google and have more than one Google account open in your browser, check
  which one is being used. If the connection fails, remove the connector in
  ChatGPT or Claude and connect again.

## What you can do

* Look up conversations, contacts, and customer-service stats.
* Summarize and classify conversations to find out what customers ask most.
* Send messages and approved WhatsApp templates.
* Prepare and send broadcasts, always with a preview before sending.
* Look up and update the assistant's instructions.
* Download photos and documents that customers sent.

## What you can't do

* **WhatsApp groups, Communities, and Channels:** iZap only accesses one-to-one
  conversations. The official WhatsApp platform doesn't deliver group messages
  to other companies.
* **Recurring automatic summaries:** summaries are made when you ask. If your
  ChatGPT has scheduled tasks, you can create a task that asks for the summary
  or sends a template on the days and times you want.

## Sending rules still apply

Messages sent through ChatGPT or Claude follow the same WhatsApp rules: outside
the 24-hour window, only approved templates reach the customer. See

Each request made through ChatGPT or Claude uses
[operation credits](/en/operation-credits), which are informational only today.
